The Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) is a non-departmental
public body established under the Learning and Skills Act
2000. The role or the ALI is to inspect and report on the
quality of education and training for adults and young people.
An ALI inspection is carried out around every four years.
Inspections are at the heart of the government’s drive
to increase skills and productivity and help individuals reach
their full potential. The ALI work closely with a wide range
of partners, including the Learning and Skills Council (LSC),
Jobcentre Plus and the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted)
and is developing ways to share knowledge and good practice.
Fareport was inspected in May 2005 and was judged on amongst
other things; the quality and standards of training, clear
identification of strengths and weaknesses to help focus on
quality improvement and promoting good practice, how well
learners are guided and supported, also achievement rates.
A four point scale is awarded to summarise the findings on
an inspection:-
Grade 1 – Outstanding
Grade 2 – Good
Grade 3 – Satisfactory
Grade 4 – Inadequate
