Name: Ben Hughes
Age: 20
Qualification: Business Administration Apprenticeship
Level 2
Work Place: Cosham Police Station –
Criminal Justice Service
I left school a month early to lived in Portugal for a year
with my sister, so I didn’t take any exams. I came back
at the end of December to find a decent job. I went to Connexions
who advised me to go to Fareport Training. I started on the
e2e programme, got a good CV up together and started working
towards my ICT qualification. After a month I was told about
a job at Cosham Police Station, I went to the interview and
got the job!
After my first two weeks at the station my Assessor from
Fareport came to visit me and started me on my NVQ level 1.
I found it quite easy but I wanted to start on level 1 and
progress to level 2. When I started my level 2 Apprenticeship
I found it was a bit more challenging and involved, however,
I still enjoyed it. I visited Fareport regularly to achieve
my key skills. My Assessor came to observe me working and
carrying out duties, also to help and support me with my qualification.
Fareport made me aware that they were always there to support
me whenever I needed it. I would like to progress in the force,
I have just applied for a position as Senior Clerical Assistant;
if I am successful I would like to work towards my level 3
Apprenticeship.
I really enjoy working for the police, it’s very interesting,
you learn a lot and the money is good. The Apprenticeship
gave me what I needed as I didn’t gain any qualifications
at school, this will definitely help me further my career.
I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Fareport,
they helped me get a job and achieve my qualifications. I
would thoroughly recommend them.
