| Name: Jack Laker
Programme: e2e
I left school in 2005. I didn’t get very good grades
but I didn’t want to go to college, its too much like
school. I started looking for a job. I applied for about 15
jobs and I didn’t get a response at all. I started working
with my dad in landscape gardening; I did that for about a
month when I decided it wasn’t for me. I went to Connexions
for some careers advice and they told me about Fareport and
e2e.
I went for an interview at Fareport to learn about the e2e
programme and thought it was a very good idea; I started e2e
in August 05. It didn’t matter about your past history
or what you have or haven’t achieved. I did an induction
for a week, with a small group of other learners, which was
good fun. We learnt about health and safety procedures using
real work environments.
I have made a lot of friends; everyone is treated as equals,
so appearances do not matter. I have completed projects about
my hobbies which are playing the drums and ‘ Manga’
cartoons. I have recently got a contract with three of my
friends, with a comic publisher, who are setting up in London.
They have offered to pay us for any comic strips we produce
– so watch this space!!
My Assessors were very understanding and gave me time off
to meet with the Director of the magazine in London and let
me use Fareport’s phones to call him. On e2e I have
produced a CV, a ‘personal statement’ about myself
and I am working towards my Communication and Application
of Number Level 2 qualification.
I really enjoy the e2e programme and have told my friends
about Fareport. It’s helping me to achieve my goals
and find a direction where I really want to go for my future.
‘Peace Out.
